The "ring" onthe Sohodol Gorges

In March 2013, Asociatia Drumetii Montane (Mountain Hiking Association)

, together with some volunteers, traveled the route: Runcu village - "Ring" from Sohodolului Gorges.

The route is easy, being among those recommended for the beginning of the season.

If you didn't know, Cheile Sohodolului is one of the impressive karst phenomena in our country, the landscape stretching for about 12 kilometers inside the Valcan Mountains, between Runcu and Poiana Contului, the area where the rivers broke, in the limestone rocks, more gorges more or less characteristic of this phenomenon.

Water is not the only factor in creating the beauties of the Sohodol Gorges, but also the wind. The "ring" we all know, which is found on a ridge in the Sohodol Gorges, is the creation of the wind, is at an altitude of 700 meters and has led to the appearance of many stories and legends.
