From 9 to 11 September the last stage of the "Ștafeta Munților" (the Mountain Relay) National Sports Tourism Championship will take place: the "Pro-Parâng" Trophy, organised by the "Schi Turism Montan Pro-Parâng" Petroșani Association in the Parâng resort, located 15 km from the town of Petroșani.
Four competition events are organised within the event: mountain raid, orienteering, tourism knowledge and, as always, the cultural event.
This year the people from the "Schi Turism Montan Pro-Parâng" Petroșani Association have prepared a fairy-tale mountain route for the participants.
In the "Mountain Raid" event – as the hike is called within the championship – the start will begin with an ascent of Parângul Mic Peak, after which you descend on a well-defined path to the junction with the main ridge trail, continue on the red stripe marking to the next trail junction, where you turn left on the yellow dot marking to Lacul Mija, then begin the climb to the Mija plateau and descend to Lacul Înghețat, still on the yellow dot. From this point you follow the yellow cross marking, which will take you to the three cascading lakes: Verde, Mic and Slivei, after which the climb to Lacul Cârja begins and you reach the main ridge trail, the marking still being the yellow cross. On reaching the main ridge you turn right and follow the red stripe marking to the last checkpoint with a marshal.
"Tourist orienteering" will be carried out by compass bearing, with all the team members taking part. The orienteering course has a maximum length of 2 km, with a height difference of 200 m, and is completed before the mountain raid event.
"Theoretical knowledge" is organised as a multiple-choice test with a single correct answer; the time allowed is 7 minutes and the competitors will be ranked according to the time achieved. The questionnaire will comprise 15 questions and each team member will answer five questions. "The cultural event" will be held on Saturday evening, at the campfire, where young and old will delight those who have come to the event with folk music, poems, plays and humorous moments, with laughter and singing until morning.

People of any level of fitness can take part in the "Pro-Parâng" Trophy by choosing one of the categories juniors, veterans, women or open. Parents who wish to educate their children in an eco-sporting spirit can take part in the family category, and for the athletic ones the elite category has been prepared.
The tent camp will be set up in the Parâng tourist area, next to Cabana INEFS and the headquarters of the Petroșani School Sports Club.
