The first project that helps sports competition organisers prepare and manage their events more easily in the future has been completed.
Forget about the organisational problems caused by the large number of clubs and participants in sports competitions and test the "Ultra Orienteering" project!
The open-source project, called "Ultra Orienteering", was created by the Drumeții Montane Association, through volunteers Alexandru Canavoiu and Petronel Postolache, who showed that it is possible to do that SOMETHING we all say needs to be done but never take the next step towards: to offer something without asking for anything in return.
The project consists of several pieces of software and instructions for building the stations that record participants' times between certain checkpoints. Sports competitions can be organised over a single day or over several days, better organised and much more interactive, because participants' times are calculated to the second, instantly, and the standings are displayed immediately.
The project gives you the possibility to modify the software and the stations (checkpoints), which are programmable (the source code for each station can be downloaded and modified as needed) and, even more, a mini-printer can be added so that at the end of the route each participant receives a report with their route and intermediate times.
The "Ultra Orienteering" project was tested for the first time at the Awards Ceremony of the "Ștafeta Munților" (the Mountain Relay) National Sports Tourism Championship 2015, and those who tested it were impressed, so this year the project will be used in the Orienteering event of this national competition.
If you are passionate about nature and want to escape the city, we invite you to join us at the seven events of 2017. Details about the championship at www.stafetamuntilor.ro. The invitations for each individual event are published at least one month before the date of the event.
Until then, whether you are a non-profit entity, a company or (why not?) a private individual, we invite you to find out more about the "Ultra Orienteering" project by visiting the project page www.ultra-orienteering.drumetiimontane.ro.
The Drumeții Montane Association has set out on a long road, confident that it will succeed in educating those around it in a green spirit and with the desire to carry out as many actions as possible to protect nature!
