Exactly two weeks after the last meeting of this kind (in Bran), the Bucharest geocachers met up again to do a bit of cleaning in Văcărești Natural Park.
Little by little, all those who wanted to be present at this meeting arrived. On bicycles, accompanied by friends or together with their families, they all came to help clean up the area.
After the action plan was drawn up, the Geocaching Romania Association handed out gloves and bags for household rubbish. Then, armed with good spirits, the geocachers went to collect the waste left behind by "people" who do not know how to appreciate nature... Although at first glance the area seemed relatively clean, in less than an hour each participant managed to collect 2–3 bags of household rubbish!
At the end, everyone gathered for the classic group photo next to the rubbish bags they had collected.
Then, because everyone was surprised by the beauty of the area they had cleaned, those present decided to hide a few boxes as well. The Geocaching Romania Association had prepared boxes especially for this operation! After containers were handed out to those who wanted them, the geocachers formed several groups that set off to hide the future caches.
It should be mentioned that everyone present at this event received a (virtual) souvenir from Groundspeak!
What is geocaching?
Geocaching is a game based on GPS positioning. The game consists of finding boxes of 'treasure' called geocaches or caches, which are hidden at certain geographical coordinates.
Geocaching is similar to a 150-year-old game that uses clues and references to landmarks from stories. Geocaching was conceived shortly after the restrictions on the use of GPS were lifted, on 1 May 2000.
