Day 2, theMiddle Distance Event

As you well know from previous articles, the city of Târgu Jiu is hosting the National Foot Orienteering Championship, a competition organised by the Romanian Orienteering Federation.
Depending on the category in which they took part, the athletes covered distances between 1.7 km and 5.4 km. In this event, called "Day 2 – Middle Distance Event", competitors used maps and compasses, and a high-performance system called SportIdent is used to time the competitors.
The competition comprises 15 categories, namely different age categories for women and men, an OPEN category open to people of any age and, a novelty for competitions organised in Romania, the family category, in which members of a family take part, a category in which it is expected that future champions will be launched.
The winners of the second day were: Peter Knobloch, Cristian Constantin, Csis Robert (M12 category), Emi Minoiu, Tintar Mihai, Rob Claudiu (M14 category), Stefan Copetchi, Bele Felician, Gabor Prezensky (M16 category), Tamas Prezensky, Vlaicu Ionut, Paul Pricop (M18 category), Szabolcs Gyorgy, Giurgica Marcelin, Daniel Barkasz (M20 category), Bogya Tamas, Ionut Zinca, Mircea Dopovecz (M21 category), Denisa Tamas, Timea Virag, Denisa Tecar (F12 category), Branzila Lisa, Roxana Culcean, Agnes Neda (F14 category), Laszlo Monika, Sandra Sandulescu, Bonto Diana (F16 category), Andra Anghel, Andrada Dervesteanu, Cristina Brezian (F18 category), Patricia Carausan, Nicoleta Papara (F20 category), Veronica Minoiu, Andreea Danila, Anca Stupu (F21 category).
The next competition event, the long distance, will take place on 3 September 2011 in the Rasova forest, starting at 10:00.
