Clubul Alpin Temerarii invites you, from 4 to 6 September 2015, to discover and conquer the Piatra Craiului massif, as part of the 9th stage of the Ștafeta Munților (the Mountain Relay) National Sports Tourism Championship, for the Trofeul Temerarii, 2nd edition, where the camp will be set up at Gura Râului, Piatra Craiului Massif, town of Zărnești.

Legend has it that a very long time ago, the people of these parts were led by a much-loved and respected prince (crai), known as Măritul (the Exalted One). Already old, he had no children. So he decided to choose an heir to the throne himself, in order to avoid fighting after his death. To this end he organised a contest in which young men from all corners of the country would compete in trials of strength and wisdom. At a sheepfold in the mountains lived a sturdy shepherd named Brăduț. Hearing of Măritul's contest for the throne, the shepherd's companions urged him to go and try his luck too. He proved to be the most righteous, strong and wise of all the young men. And so Piatra cea Mare (the Great Rock), along the paths that Brăduț walked, was named Piatra Craiului (the Prince's Rock) in honour of the shepherd who, by his own strength, became a Crai.

Trofeul Temerarii is a Challenge-type competition held at national level, where Clubul Alpin Temerarii will organise various mountain-specific activities, such as: hiking, sports orienteering, tourism knowledge, marathon, campfire, poetry, folk music and other surprises).

The dreamland of Piatra Craiului, a mountain steeped in mystery and history, with unique landscapes, awaits you to conquer two of the peaks that dominate the horizon. Trofeul Temerarii is aimed at everyone, regardless of their physical condition, who wishes to take part in sporting, cultural and ecological activities.

Depending on their age and level of training, participants will take part as a team of three people and will choose one of the six categories: Elite, Family, Juniors, Women, Veterans, Open. The Family category is the most sought-after category in the entire competition, where parents are encouraged by the organisers to discover the beauties of nature, savouring the excitement of a competition in which the children will learn how to read a map and how to use a compass, and will test their tourism knowledge.

The event is organised with the support of Zărnești Town Hall, the Zărnești Gendarmerie, Salvamont Zărnești, the Zărnești Red Cross, the Piatra Craiului Nature Reserve, Concelex, Andratec AG 2002 and the sculptor Mihai Jitaru.
