The Drumeții Montane Association carried out eco-tourism activities as part of the project Eco-friendly Planet... This is our Home, Keep it Clean!, a project funded by the European Commission through ANPCDEFP Bucharest (the National Agency for Community Programmes in the Field of Education and Vocational Training), as part of the Lifelong Learning Programme, being a project between 2 schools.
The 27 young Bulgarians who arrived in Gorj County took part in hiking activities in which they covered the educational themed trail "Tales of the Forest", after which they received information about mountain equipment and the use of the compass. The young people proved to be receptive and very enthusiastic about this activity and took part in the tourist orienteering competition, where they were able to put into practice what they had learned.
The young Bulgarians received information materials about everything they can visit in Gorj County; these materials were provided by Gorj County Council.
"Eco-friendly Planet... This is our Home, Keep it Clean!" is a two-year partnership proposed by two schools, one from Bulgaria, Technicheska Profesionalna Guimnasiya "Nikola", represented by Mrs Mariana Kolarska, and one from Romania, the Traian Vuia Automotive College in the town of Târgu Jiu, represented by Mr Liviu Udrescu. Although it is a language project, its theme is closely linked to the surrounding reality, given that its aim is to inspire not only pupils and teachers, but also the communities around our schools, to clean up, repair and preserve the environment.
The objectives of this project are:
To promote better understanding, positive reasoning and increased eco-friendly environmental awareness among pupils.
To encourage pupils and teachers to take a positive role and make concerted efforts to preserve and protect our planet.
To develop awareness and a responsible attitude among pupils so that they take the initiative to improve the environment.
To develop a correct understanding of the relationship between people and the environment and of the interdependence between quality of life and the quality of the environment.
To raise awareness of the benefits of well-maintained green spaces for human health and mood.
To develop team spirit and introduce pupils to competent teamwork while they create different products for this project.
To motivate the use of new technologies and social networks for educational purposes.
