Promoting mountain hiking as a way of spending free time – and, even more than that, as a way of getting to know the environment and learning how to live in a healthy way – together with carrying out various projects on various themes where young people learn about ecology, marketing, software and web development, are the concerns of the members and volunteers of the Drumeții Montane Association, which was founded in 2010.
For those passionate about tourism and sport we have good news: the calendar of events to be organised next year within the Ștafeta Munților (the Mountain Relay) National Sports Tourism Championship has been drawn up.
Within the Ștafeta Munților championship, seven NGOs will organise events in various tourist locations in Romania for those passionate about tourism, sport and ecology, with the following objectives: adding value to the specialised competitions organised, by including them in a competitive system; creating the conditions needed for youth, tourism, sport and ecology NGOs to develop joint projects; promoting an attitude of respect towards the environment, raising young people's awareness of ecosystem protection and developing their ecological spirit; developing team spirit and a sense of belonging to a group, developing interpersonal relationships; getting to know the tourism and sporting potential of Romania's mountain areas.
The calendar of events, as well as more information about this championship, can be found at www.stafetamuntilor.ro. Participation in the events is free of charge.
For teachers in Romania, the Drumeții Montane Association will organise the ECO JUNIOR project again in 2017. This year the association, in partnership with 580 educational institutions, organised the largest tourism, sport and ecology project, in which almost 3,000 teachers carried out activities between January and August under a single name: "Eco Junior 2016".
The aim of the "Eco Junior 2016" project was to educate children in an ecological spirit, to help them acquire an environmentally protective attitude and to involve them in eco-recreational activities through play.
The children involved in Eco Junior 2016 took part, in teams, in various activities according to their age and learned that it is very important to work together, to support one another and to acquire specific skills.
More about this project can be found on its dedicated page: www.eco-junior.drumetiimontane.ro
At the Ștafeta Munților Awards Ceremony, the Drumeții Montane Association tested a new and original orienteering system. The system was a success and will be implemented in 2017 within the Ștafeta Munților National Sports Tourism Championship, in order to make this competition much more attractive. The orienteering system will be presented in 2017 on the championship's website and will be available free of charge to other sports competitions in Romania.
The Drumeții Montane Association is currently supported by SC Manpres Distribution SRL, Yli Eternit Acces SRL, CH-center.com, Elmo-Print, O & R Bacău, Zimbrul Carpatin Pitești.
If you are passionate about tourism, sport and ecology and want to be part of the Drumeții Montane Association's team, we invite you to sign up as a volunteer at www.drumetiimontane.ro
