Munții Leaota resounded on the last weekend of May with the energy expended by participants to win the Chemarea Munților Trophy (the Call of the Mountains Trophy). More than 28 mountain clubs took part from 27 to 29 May in the 4th stage within the Romanian Federation of Tourism and Ecology (FRTE), organised at Moeciu de Sus. The participants from each club had the chance to prove their qualities in the events of regularity, orienteering, mountain cross-country, climbing, and the cultural event made up of poetry, anthem, folk music and a play.
In this competition Gorj Team won a well-deserved 3rd place within the Federation of Tourism and Ecology. The places obtained in each individual event were: Regularity 5th place; team climbing 1st place; girls' individual climbing: 2, 4, 6 – 2nd place going to Miss Tomoiu Oana, a seventh-grade pupil from Baia de Fier, member of the White Wolf Club; boys' climbing 5th and 10th place, boys' orienteering 6th place. In mountain cross-country, 1st place was won by national champion Lupulescu Daniel, girls' cross-country 5th place.
