Gorj Team, a FewWords About This Project

Gorj Team is a project run in partnership by the White Wolf Club and the Drumeții Montane Association, within which teams made up of young people active in the two organisations, or volunteers passionate about mountain sports, take part in the competitions organised under the aegis of the Romanian Federation of Tourism and Ecology (FRTE).

This project gives young people the opportunity to spend their free time in nature, practising in an organised way sports such as: climbing, tourist orienteering, hiking (regularity – covering a tourist trail within a set time with the help of a map and compass), mountain cross-country running.

Those with artistic talent have the cultural event at their disposal, where they put on a show comprising music, poetry and humour. In this section, among the competitors we find: Titus Constantin (Caraiman Câmpina), Maria Magdalena Dănăilă (Albatros Galați), Harja Jenica and the band Verde, Răzvan Bineață (Vampi), Petre Ancuța – also recently awarded a prize at the "Poarta Sărutului" Folk and Ballad Festival in Târgu Jiu.

In the company of professionals we also compete in the sporting events: tourist orienteering, climbing, mountain cross-country running. A source of pride for us is the fact that the young climbers trained at Baia de Fier (Tomoniu Oana, Zguroiu Constantin, Ecovescu Cosmin, Zanfir Cătălin, Ecovescu Verginia, Butiuc Diana) are ranked first in the country, outclassing, in competitions with a high degree of difficulty, climbers who have also competed in World Cup stages at Bușteni, as well as in the cross-country event, where in the men's category Lupulescu Daniel won every stage.

Those mentioned have been joined by volunteers from all over the country, passionate about the mountains and mountain sports, among whom the following have stood out: Duricu Tatiana, Bucur Mădălina and Răzvan Ciobanu, all three from Breaza, Prahova County.

The project coordinators are a dynamic duo, made up of Chiriac Dan-Gabriel and Canavoiu Alexandru, the presidents of the two organisations.
