PRESS RELEASE 20MAY 2011

Today, 20 May 2011, a clean-up action of the Șușița river in Târgu Jiu took place, carried out at the initiative of the Students' League of the Constantin Brâncuși University in collaboration with the "Drumeții Montane" Association and with over 160 pupils and teachers from the high schools: Energy School Group No. 1, Ecaterina Teodoroiu College and Bârsești Agricultural High School.
The action began at around 11:00, near the "Șușița River" sign, and the participants cleaned the riverbed using bin bags and plastic gloves provided by S.C. Polaris Holding S.R.L. and Târgu Jiu Town Hall.
Over 200 bin bags of PET bottles, forks, plastic materials, textiles, household waste and even a tractor wheel and much more were collected. For those who took part in the action it is clear that the people who come to that area to relax on the green grass leave behind an indescribable mess. We hope that in future such things will no longer happen and that people will become more understanding in this respect.
The Students' League of the Constantin Brâncuși University and the Drumeții Montane Association thank their partners: Târgu Jiu Town Hall, Ch-Center Hosting, Vector di Sign, as well as the company S.C. Polaris Holding S.R.L. for their willingness to provide us with the materials needed to carry out the action and also to collect the bags of waste gathered.
