Today, 24 March 2011, a clean-up action of the forest area in the Bârsești district took place, carried out at the initiative of the "Drumeții Montane" Association of Târgu Jiu, together with 30 pupils from the Ecaterina Teodoroiu National College coordinated by teacher Miss Tulpan Ofelia and 50 pupils from Energy School Group No. 1 coordinated by teacher Mr Murărița Daniel.
The action began at around 10:00 near the "Drum Bun" monument, and the participants used bin bags and plastic gloves to clean the forest area in the Bârsești district of the waste generated by the chaotic tourism in that area.
PET bottles, cigarette butts, plastic materials, textiles, household waste and other items were collected. It was found on the spot that the paths and streams in the forest were extremely dirty, full of household waste.
Around 200 bin bags were collected during this action.
The "Drumeții Montane" Association thanks its partners: the Administration of the Nordul Gorjului de Vest Protected Natural Area, the Târgu Jiu Forestry District, the Environmental Protection Agency, Ch-Center Hosting, Casa Bobo, Euro Park, as well as the company S.C. Polaris Holding S.R.L. for their willingness to provide us with bin bags and gloves to carry out the action and also to collect the bags of waste gathered.
Actions of this kind will continue in the future at the initiative of the "Drumeții Montane" Association.
