The Eco Junior 2016 Project, run by the Drumeții Montane Association, has reached a record number of educational institutions, their number exceeding 540.
The national project aims to promote an attitude of respect towards the environment, raise children's awareness of the protection of ecosystems, develop the ecological spirit, research, study, make use of and defend the environment, and have the teachers involved, together with the association's volunteers, develop cultural programmes.
Alexandru Canavoiu, the representative of the Drumeții Montane Association, informed us that the county with the most schools enrolled so far is Buzău (43), followed by Dâmbovița (39), Galați (36), Bacău (28), Prahova (25), Suceava (24), Neamț (22), Brașov (21), Iași (21), Bucharest (20), Argeș (18), Gorj (17), Vaslui (17), Timiș (16), Maramureș (14), Teleorman (14), Vrancea (14), Mureș (13), Călărași (12), Olt (11), Brăila (10), Constanța (10), Cluj (9), Sălaj (9), Mehedinți (7), Botoșani (6), Ilfov (6), Satu Mare (6), Alba (5), Covasna (5), Ialomița (5), Vâlcea (5), Caraș-Severin (4), Dolj (4), Giurgiu (4), Hunedoara (4), Arad (3), Bihor (3), Bistrița-Năsăud (3), Sibiu (3), Tulcea (3), Harghita (2).
Depending on the children's age, volunteers and teachers organised various activities so that the children would acquire important ecological knowledge and a special attachment to nature, feeding their motivation and desire to take part in as many activities as possible to maintain the cleanest possible environment.
If you are a teacher, you can still enrol in the Eco Junior 2016 project until the end of April. To do so, you must fill in the form found at www.ecojunior.drumetiimontane.ro.
As you well know, the activities within the project – as we have already become accustomed to – vary according to the pupils' age, which is why the delegated teacher will choose the activity or activities to be organised within the project.

With the help of those involved, the Drumeții Montane Association will continue the objective it has had since 2010, namely educating children in a green spirit and with the desire to undertake as many actions as possible to protect nature.
