Registration Has Opened for the"Parângul Mare" Mountain Sports Festival

The "Drumeții Montane" Association officially launches the project Festivalul Sporturilor Montane "Parângul Mare" (the "Parângul Mare" Mountain Sports Festival), 2nd edition, a festival that will take place from 2 to 4 August 2013 at Cabana Groapa Seacă in Hunedoara County. The event includes a range of hiking, climbing, tourist orienteering, folk marathon and cultural activities, surprise challenges and many other activities divided by age category, so that anyone can take part. No participation fee is charged for the event.
This event is an outdoor competition between teams of 3 people and represents Stage IV of the Ștafeta Munților (the Mountain Relay) National Championship.
Four competition categories are organised within the festival: CHILDREN, JUNIORS, SENIORS and OPEN! Substantial prizes are offered in each of them! Grab your friends and family, form your teams and take part! Beginner, experienced or on the mountain for the first time, come and join us!
The competition events will be the following: mountain raid - 2,000 points, orienteering by compass bearing - 2,000 points, climbing - 400 points, theoretical tests - 300 points, cultural - 300 points.
Parents can educate their little ones by developing their green spirit and instilling in them the pleasure and benefits of spending free time in the heart of nature, by entering them in the CHILDREN category, MOUNTAIN RAID (hiking) event, which will take place on the route Cabana Groapa Seacă - Refugiul Agățat - and back to Cabana Groapa Seacă. During the hike, they can visit a refuge "hanging" on a rock, which dates from 1985–1986.
In the MOUNTAIN RAID event, the JUNIORS and OPEN categories will cover the following route: Cabana Groapa Seacă - Refugiul Agățat - Stâna Roșiile - Punctul Roșu - Lacul Verde – and back to Cabana Groapa Seacă.
The ELITE category will have to cover the route Cabana Groapa Seacă (Start) - Refugiul Agățat - Stâna Roșiile - Punctul Roșu - Lacul Roșiile - Lacul Mândra - Șaua Gruiului - Vf. Parângul Mare - Vf. Silvei - Lacul Verde - Cabana Groapa Seacă (Finish) in a very short time.
During the event the participants will visit Refugiul Agățat and the 7 lakes, and will climb Parângul Mare peak (2,518 m) as well as Silvei peak (2,420 m).

Registration is online. After you complete the registration form, a declaration on your own responsibility will be generated automatically, containing an identification code with which you will present yourself at the event. If you do not have a printer, you only need to note down the identification code, and the declaration will be printed when the team is validated.
From May until the event takes place, the members of the association, together with its volunteers, will run campaigns to promote the event, handing out flyers and posters in towns across Romania and setting up information points.
