The Jnepenii open the Ștafeta Munților (the Mountain Relay) 2022 National Sports Tourism Championship at Baia de Fier, a place we consider home. In 2012, the first Ștafeta in its current format was organised at Baia de Fier. Between 17 and 19 June we invite you to celebrate with us 10 years of treading the trails in the Ștafeta Munților.
The event is, as every year, free of charge and is aimed at any lover of nature and the mountains with a minimum level of fitness. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible exploring the trails in the area.
Baia de Fier is known for its many via ferrata routes, so if you already own via ferrata equipment, we encourage you to bring it with you (harness, helmet, lanyards).
Camp:
The camp will be set up in the Cheile Galbenului area, at the entrance to Peștera Muierilor (the Women's Cave).

Competition categories:
FAMILY – teams of 3 people, at least one adult and compulsorily at least one child aged 13 or under
JUNIORS – teams of 3 people, regardless of gender, aged between 14 and 20
ELITE – teams of 3 people, regardless of gender; for the stage organised at Baia de Fier, via ferrata equipment is required for this category; if you do not own this equipment, it will be provided to you for the competition.
SENIORS – teams of 3 people aged between 35 and 50, regardless of gender.
VETERANS – teams of 3 people aged over 50, regardless of gender.
WOMEN – teams of three women, regardless of age.
OPEN – teams of 3 people, regardless of age and gender.
Competition events:
MOUNTAIN RAID – the routes are of medium difficulty. We recommend that those taking part for the first time in a Ștafeta Munților competition, or who have no experience of hiking trails, consult the members of the organising team when choosing their competition category. The compulsory equipment for this event is:

individual: mountain footwear with a profiled sole, torch, whistle, rain cape;

team: compass, first-aid kit, water bottle, rucksack, fire source.
THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE – taken before setting off on the raid route and consisting of a multiple-choice test with 15 questions. The questions and answers will be posted in advance on www.stafetamuntilor.ro. Each team member will answer 5 questions, and the Family and Open categories will answer only picture-based questions.
ORIENTEERING – involves completing a course with the help of an orienteering map and a compass, over a distance not exceeding 2.5 km as the crow flies, with a maximum height difference of approximately 60 m.
CULTURAL EVENT – let the fun begin around the campfire! The most inspired and creative will delight us with songs, poems, sketches and surprises.

18:00 – Let the party begin! We prepare the campfire and await the competitors for the cultural event
22:00 – The long-awaited moment: posting of the results

11:00 – Awards ceremony! We head home with new memories and the thought that we will meet again soon.
