On 12–14 June, the "Cocoșul de Munte" Mountain Tourism Association invites you to stage II of the "Ștafeta Munților" National Sports Tourism Championship, a stage that will take place in the Piatra Mare Massif.
The "Cocoșul de Munte" Trophy (the Capercaillie Trophy) is an "outdoor challenge" type sporting activity and is open to all tourism and ecology clubs and associations in the country, whether or not affiliated to the Ștafeta Munților National Sports Tourism Championship.
Competition dates: 12 June 2015, 14:00 – 14 June 2015, 13:00
Venue: Dâmbu Morii, Piatra Mare Massif
Access routes:
* DN1 București – Brașov (after Timișul de Jos turn right at the Dâmbu Morii sign)
* Târgu Mureș – Sighișoara – Brașov (from Brașov follow the sign for București, exit onto DN1. After leaving the city turn left at the Dâmbu Morii sign)
* Bacău – Onești – Târgu Secuiesc – Brașov (immediately after entering Brașov take the Brașov ring road – Fundătura Hărmanului Street – Timișul Sec Street, which brings you straight onto DN1)
* Pitești – Curtea de Argeș – the Rucăr-Bran Corridor – Brașov (from Brașov follow the sign for București, exit onto DN1. After leaving the city turn left at the Dâmbu Morii sign)
* Sibiu – Făgăraș – Brașov (from Brașov follow the sign for București, exit onto DN1. After leaving the city turn left at the Dâmbu Morii sign)

Those coming in their own cars should know that they cannot drive all the way to the camping area. Cars will be left 500 metres below, at the barrier.
Competition categories:
According to the 2015 Competition Rules - Ștafeta Munților
1. FAMILY – teams of 3 people, with at least one adult and compulsorily at least one child aged 13 or under;
2. JUNIORS - teams of 3 people, of either sex, aged between 14 and 18 (completed years);
3. ELITE – teams of 3 people, of either sex;
4. OPEN – teams of 3 people, regardless of age and sex. Times for this category are calculated as touring times;
5. VETERANS - teams of 3 people aged over 45, of either sex.
6. WOMEN – teams of three women, regardless of age.
Compulsory events:
MOUNTAIN RAID – a mountain route of medium difficulty, lasting a maximum of 8 hours. ORIENTEERING – speed event on azimuth; each team will nominate one member to complete the course.
TOURISM KNOWLEDGE - The event is organised as a multiple-choice test with a single correct answer; the time allowed is 7 minutes.
The CULTURAL EVENT will take place on Saturday evening, at the campfire.

COMPULSORY equipment:
Individual: the compulsory individual equipment consists of "mountain footwear with a lugged sole", which includes trail-running "trainers", a torch, a whistle and a rain cape.
Team: water container, first-aid kit, rucksack, fire source and compass.

Event programme:
Friday, 12 June 2015:
- arrival of participants between 15:00 and 22:00 and completion of the competition registration forms by them;
- The technical briefing will begin between 22:00 and 23:00;
Campfire on both evenings of the competition, starting at 21:00
Lights out: the compulsory lights-out time in the camp is 24:00 on Friday.
Saturday, 13 June 2015:
- 08:00 - 18:00 - The "Cocoșul de Munte" Trophy,
- 10:00 – 17:00 - Fun surprise events for those who stay in the camp;
- 20:00 – 21:00 – Cultural event and mountain songs at the campfire.
Sunday, 14 June 2015:
- 11:30 – 13:00 posting of the final results and prize-giving ceremony;
- 13:00 official close of the competition, cleaning up the camp, departure of participants.
The group leader is required to make known the rules within the camp as well as those laid down by Ștafeta Munților. Rubbish will be carried to the bin (500 metres from the campsite).

Those who want to stay at these guesthouses are advised to enquire in good time, as the area is very busy with tourists.
There is also the option of staying in Brașov, the time needed to get from the city to the campsite being around 30 minutes (but you will miss out on the fun and good cheer in the camp).
