The Gaska București Tourism Association invites you to the second edition of the "Trofeul Munților" (the Mountains Trophy)
Stage IV of the National Sports Tourism Championship – Ștafeta Munților (the Mountain Relay), 2015 edition
10–12 July 2015 – Buila Vânturarița, Căpățânii Mountains
Trofeul Munților is open both to members of the clubs taking part in the Sports Tourism Championship – Ștafeta Munților and to other people who can organise themselves into teams, taking part alongside the clubs and enjoying the same activities.
Camp location:
The tent camp will be set up 2 km from the village of Bărbătești, in the Buila Vânturarița National Park.
Access is as follows:
- The village of Bărbătești lies on the DN 67 road Râmnicu Vâlcea – Târgu Jiu, about 30 km from Râmnicu Vâlcea. Coming from Râmnicu Vâlcea, turn right at Bărbătești. From there, go through the village towards Pătrunsa Monastery; at the exit from the village follow the valley and after about 2 km you reach the camp.
- Those coming by public transport can use the following route: from Râmnicu Vâlcea there is a bus that goes to Bărbătești; passengers should get off at the terminus, from where it is about 2 km on foot to the camp. Camp rules:
Because the event takes place in a national park, the park rules, which will be explained to you at the technical briefing, must be observed. Because accommodation options in the area are limited, competitors will be accommodated in tents. Lighting fires is forbidden. There will be a single large campfire.
ATTENTION! - The entrance fee to the Buila Vânturarița National Park is 2.5 lei for Trophy participants. The fee is paid on arrival at the camp.
Please confirm your participation by 3 July 2015 (club, number of teams, registration by category, approximate time of arrival at the camp).
RULES
1. Mountain raid event:
- Difficulty level: medium
- Duration: 7–8 hours
- Team: 3 members
- Physical fitness: very good
- The route will be marked and secured by the organisers
- Scoring: according to the Ștafeta Munților rules.
- Entry to this event is not allowed without hiking boots or "mountain footwear with a lugged sole", which includes trail-running "trainers"
- Counts towards the overall ranking of the competition
2. Orienteering event:
- Speed event on azimuth; each team will nominate one member to complete the course. The maximum length will be 2 km and the maximum elevation difference 30 m;
- Scoring: according to the Ștafeta Munților rules
- Counts towards the overall ranking of the competition
3. Theory tests:
- Taken by the members of the teams entered in the competition before setting off on the raid route. The test will consist of 15 multiple-choice questions about the competition area, with a single correct answer, and will last a maximum of 7 minutes (the time being recorded for a possible tie-break). Each team member will answer 5 questions.
- Scoring: according to the Ștafeta Munților rules
- Counts towards the overall ranking of the competition.
4. Climbing event:
- Each team will nominate one member to complete a climbing route; the competitor will be belayed and will also receive a protective helmet. We do not provide climbing shoes.
- Difficulty level: medium
- Scoring: according to the Trofeul Munților rules
- Counts towards the overall ranking of the competition;
5. Cultural and artistic event:
- Theme: sport, tourism, nature, ecology;
- Duration: approx. 25 minutes;
- Scoring: according to the Ștafeta Munților rules
- Content: music, poetry, humour
- Does not count towards the overall ranking of the competition;
6. Surprise event:
– If it is a surprise, then let it stay that way until it takes place.
Important: for all compulsory events, the ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR RULES, which you can find at www.stafetamuntilor.ro, must be followed to the letter

Competition categories:
1. FAMILY – teams of 3 people, with at least one adult and compulsorily at least one child aged 13 or under;
2. JUNIORS - teams of 3 people, of either sex, aged between 14 and 18 (completed years);
3. ELITE – teams of 3 people, of either sex;
4. OPEN – teams of 3 people, regardless of age and sex. Times for this category are calculated as touring times;
5. WOMEN – teams of three women, regardless of age.
6. VETERANS - teams of 3 people aged over 45, of either sex.

Friday 10 July:
- 12:00 – 22:00 Arrival of participants
- 22:30 Technical briefing
- 24:00 Lights out
Saturday 11 July:
- 07:30 – 17:00 Technical and theory events
- 17:00 – 21:00 Surprise events
- 22:00 Cultural and artistic event and campfire
Sunday 12 July:
- 10:00 – Posting of results and settling of appeals
- 11:00 – Prize-giving ceremony
- 12:00 – Cleaning up the camp and departure of participants
Compulsory equipment:
Individual: torch, whistle, rain cape (waterproof jacket), hiking boots or footwear with a grippy sole (according to the Ștafeta Munților rules).
Team: compass, first-aid kit (recommended to contain at least 3 items such as: sterile bandage, sterile compresses, Rivanol plasters, elastic bandage, disinfectant, survival blanket), rucksack, fire source, water bottle – min. 1 l (according to the Ștafeta Munților rules).
Note:
- competitors who do not have hiking boots or footwear with a grippy sole cannot enter the mountain raid event.
Camp rules:
- Competitors will be accommodated in tents, under the guidance of the organisers.
- There will be a single campfire; making any additional fires is forbidden. - Clubs are required to carry their rubbish to the special collection points near the camp. - The organisers reserve the right to make changes to the programme of competition events depending on the weather.
- Cars may be parked in the immediate vicinity of the camp under the guidance of the organisers; their access into the tent camp is forbidden.
