Dear mountain-loving friends, we have the great pleasure of inviting you to take part in stage V of ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR (the Mountain Relay) 2022, organised by Zimbrul Carpatin Pitești!
This competition is open to all tourism and ecology clubs and associations in the country, whether or not they are affiliated to the Ștafeta Munților National Sports Tourism Championship.
THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE!
Competition date: 19–21 August 2022
Venue: the village of Dragoslavele (near Rucăr), the area of the ANDA Guesthouse (GPS: 45.34768, 25.19398)
Access routes:
- European road E574: Pitești – Brașov
- Those coming from Pitești, Bucharest, Vâlcea or Târgoviște will reach the town of Câmpulung, continue towards the Mateiaș Mausoleum and then, once in the commune of Dragoslavele, turn right in the centre of the commune onto communal road no. 28
- Those coming from Brașov will cross the Bran – Rucăr Corridor and then, once in the commune of Dragoslavele, turn left in the centre of the commune onto communal road no. 28
Competition categories:
1. Children: teams of 3 members, at least one adult and compulsorily at least one child aged no more than 13
2. Juniors: teams of 3 members, aged 14–20, regardless of sex
3. Elite: teams of 3 members, regardless of age and sex
4. Open: teams of 3 members, regardless of age and sex
5. Women's: teams of 3 members, compulsorily female
6. Seniors: teams of 3 members, all aged over 35, regardless of sex
7. Veterans: teams of 3 members, all aged over 50, regardless of sex
PRIZES:
- The winners of 1st place in all categories with at least 10 teams taking part will receive 100 euro in cash!
- In the VETERANS category, in memory of founding member Iulian Mihăescu, additional prizes will be awarded to ALL participating teams!

Competition events:
1. MOUNTAIN RAID – a mountain route of medium difficulty, lasting a maximum of 6 hours with an elevation gain of 1,000 m. Teams of 3 members take part. You cannot enter this event without HIKING BOOTS/TRAINERS with a special grippy sole for trekking.
IMPORTANT: the children will have an age-appropriate route and will not reach the summit.
The FASTEST ascent of Piatra Dragoslavelor will be awarded separately.
Points awarded: 10,000 points. Penalties: 10 pts / 1 minute and 500 pts / 1 PFA (unmanned checkpoint)
2. ORIENTEERING – a speed event using a map. The whole team will take part in this event.
IMPORTANT: we will be using the electronic timing system patented by Ștafeta Munților, so please use the chips in the manner indicated and take the checkpoints in order so as not to be disqualified.
Points awarded: 5,000 points. Penalties: 1 pt / 1 second
3. THEORETICAL TESTS – 15 multiple-choice questions about the competition area. All questions are of low difficulty and have ONE SINGLE CORRECT ANSWER. You will find the questions on the website www.stafetamuntilor.ro.
IMPORTANT: the theoretical event will be held before the other events, in the camp. Each team member will answer 5 questions.
Points awarded: 300 points. Penalties: 20 points / 1 wrong answer
4. CULTURAL – each club has 20 minutes to present an artistic and humorous moment in which it can perform any song on a mountain theme, a sketch and/or a poem.
Points awarded: 1,000 points. Penalties: depending on the marks received, according to the SM rules.
5. SURPRISE EVENT – if it is a surprise, then let it remain so until the moment it takes place.
At the Technical Briefing the organisers will present each event and the rules in detail. The organisers reserve the right to change the order of the events if this is required for objective reasons.
There IS mobile phone signal in the camp area!
IMPORTANT:
- For all compulsory events, the ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR RULES, which you can find at www.stafetamuntilor.ro, will be strictly observed.
- Tents will be pitched in the designated area and only under the guidance of the organisers. The toilets for competitors are in the courtyard of Vila Mario. Please be civilised!
- There will be a single fire pit in the camp. Mountain Gendarmerie patrols will be present in the area and will penalise any breach of the law. So please do not give them reasons to fine you!
- The camping FEE is 5 lei/person. The fee will be collected by the organiser!
Compulsory equipment:
- individual: hiking boots/trekking trainers, rain cape, whistle, torch, source of fire
- team: compass, water bottle, first-aid kit and, very important: a camera or a phone with a camera.
To determine the winners of the Trophy, the scores of the best-placed teams in any 4 categories will be added together, combining the points they obtained in the following events: Regularity, Orienteering and Theoretical Tests.

ACCOMMODATION: we can provide accommodation at the ANDA Guesthouse, which is next to the tent camp, and also at CASA ANA, 1 km from the tent camp, in rooms with 2–3 beds and private bathroom, at a price of 75 lei/night/bed. Rooms will be allocated in the order in which requests are received. Limited places! Anyone wanting accommodation should contact ERIC on 0754.474.618.
