A feature-length film – that is how the Mountain Sports Festival "Parângul Mare" is described, a festival that will run for three days, from 2 to 4 August, in the clearing next to the Groapa Seacă chalet in the Parâng Mountains. The leading actors will be all those who escape from the cities, with their scorching asphalt and deafening noise, to somewhere in the heart of nature! The script of this film will follow a well-established programme.
The Mountain Sports Festival "Parângul Mare" is at its second edition, represents the 4th stage of the "ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR" (the Mountain Relay) national sports tourism competition and is organised by JNEPENII under the aegis of the Drumeții Montane Association.
Everyone who wants to go on a short hike, run, relax, take part in orienteering, climbing, cultural or creative activities, or simply make new friends is expected at this festival.
This festival is an opportunity for various NGOs and for the many travel agencies to present their activities/services during the event.
As you well know, anyone can take part in this festival, and participation is FREE.
The events will take place in accordance with the rules of the "ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR" National Sports Tourism Competition.

Access to the camp is via national road 7A, a road that takes you into a fairy-tale holiday from the very first seconds. The 18 km of winding road that starts in Petroșani, among the majestic rocks of the Jieț Gorge, dotted with delicate waterfalls that in summer delight you with crystal-clear water pouring into the Jieț river, ends in front of the Groapa Seacă chalet.
You can also choose the Sebeș–Șugag – Obârșia Lotrului – Groapa Seacă Pass option, on road 67C, a dream-like gorge stretching over a distance of 123 km, with a perfectly smooth road, recently built, this section being an integral part of the Transalpina road. The camp can also be reached from Novaci–Rânca–Groapa Seacă, a distance of 40 km, along which you can admire the Transalpina, also known as the "King's Road", in all its splendour.
