The Story Continues This Year Too: The Drumeții Montane Festival

The Drumeții Montane Festival will take place on 1–3 August 2014 at the "Cheile Buții" Tourist Complex, in the Retezat Massif.
The Drumeții Montane Association & Jnepenii, the organisers of the event, have chosen for the third edition of the competition a route that crosses the land of legends, where winged dragons kidnapped gentle maidens and brave young men defeated them in fair fight, a realm where outlaws met on the shore of Lake Bucura and hid their treasures in its waters, a place that was once the island of the dwarf dinosaurs.
Each edition of the Drumeții Montane Festival has been a challenge for the organisers, an endeavour rewarded by the ever-growing number of competitors arriving from all over the country, who left with a smile on their lips and the wish to return.
This year we will write together a page in the legends of the Retezat, each of us being its protagonists: the organisers have taken on the role of the Brave Young Men, the Open and Family categories have been given the roles of Outlaws, the Gentle Maidens will be the girls entered in the dedicated category, the sportiest among us, Elite and Veterans, will play the roles of the Winged Dragons, and the Children and Juniors categories will become the Dwarf Dinosaurs.
Competitors will form teams of 3 people and will take part in activities such as: a warm-up programme, a mountain hike, climbing, tourism knowledge, a cultural event and other surprise events.
Saturday morning will begin with a warm-up programme that gets your blood moving and helps you cover the hike in the shortest time!
In the MOUNTAIN RAID event the teams will cover a hiking trail and will climb to 2,014 m on Piatra Iorgovanului Peak.
The climbing event will be a test of skill in tying the basic knots used in mountaineering, and the orienteering will take place on a special map, where participants will use map and compass.
Tourism Knowledge is an event in which the teams will answer 20 multiple-choice questions, which can be found on the festival website www.festival.drumetiimontane.ro .
The evening will end with a cultural programme, which will include songs, poetry and humorous sketches.
To take part in the activities of this year's Drumeții Montane Festival, those arriving must have a minimum of compulsory equipment: individual: footwear with a grippy sole, torch, whistle and rain cape; and per team: camera/phone with a camera, compass, first-aid kit, water bottle, rucksack and fire source.
The events will be held in accordance with the rules of the "ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR" (the Mountain Relay) National Sports Tourism Competition.
Anyone can take part in the festival, whether they wish to take part in the activities or simply spend a weekend in nature.
The activities organised within this festival are free of charge.
By taking part in the activities you will earn points, and at the end the most deserving competitors will be rewarded with substantial prizes offered by the festival's supporters: Ch-Center Hosting, Dwyn.ro, Lew.ro, Doppelherz, VitalisGroup.ro, AuroMedia, the Cuculis and Associates Law Office, MobilaDalin, Touch Antibacterial, Belkin International Inc, Craimont, IBU Publishing, Piticlic, O & R Bacău, Mozartinno, ListaFirme.ro, Elmo-Print, MagazinulArtistilor.ro, A-Z Cursuri, Hotel Peștera, CEDES Cercetare Dezvoltare.
