"Transalpin" Mountain Sports Festival, 20–22 July 2012 – Invitation

The Drumeții Montane Association invites you to take part in the first edition of the "TRANSALPIN" Mountain Sports Festival, which will take place on 20–22 July 2012 in the Parâng Mountains. The tent camp will be set up at Obârșia Lotrului, near the chalet of the Vâlcea Forestry Directorate. The "TRANSALPIN" Mountain Sports Festival is Stage IV of the "ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR" (the Mountain Relay) sports tourism competition.

Within the festival you can take part in competitions such as: TROFEUL JIULUI (the Jiu Trophy) (mountain raid, theory tests, orienteering, climbing, cultural), MARATHON, MOUNTAIN … CHESS.

Participants will be rewarded with prizes (money, vouchers, products) exceeding the sum of 26,000 lei; to see the complete list of prizes click here.

10:00 – Posting of the results for the CULTURAL event and resolution of appeals;

10:30 – Posting of the final results;

11:30 – Awards ceremony;

13:00 – Departure of the participants and cleaning of the area;

COMPETITION CATEGORIES

JUNIORS – teams of 3 people, regardless of gender, aged up to 20.

SENIORS – teams of 3 people, regardless of gender, aged 18 and over;

OPEN – teams of 3 people, regardless of age, mixed-gender compulsory;

COMPETITION EVENTS

JUNIORS: Mountain raid – 7:00 h, 2,000 points, 2 PFA (unmanned checkpoints) – 1 h break;

Orienteering – 2,000 m, 2,000 points (by compass bearing);

Climbing – knots test, 400 points;

Theory tests – 300 points, 20 questions with a single answer option;

SENIORS: Mountain raid – 8:00 h, 2,000 points, 2 PFA – 1 h break;

Orienteering – 2,000 m, 2,000 points (by compass bearing);

Climbing – knots test, 400 points;

Theory tests – 300 points, 20 questions with a single answer option;

OPEN: Mountain raid – 7:00 h, 2,000 points, 2 PFA – 1 h break;

Orienteering – 2,000 m, 2,000 points (by compass bearing);

Climbing – knots test, 400 points;

Theory tests – 300 points, 20 questions with a single answer option;

The events will be held in accordance with the rules of the "ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR" sports tourism competition, available at http://www.stafetamuntilor.ro/regulament

The overall ranking of each category will be posted according to the following scores: 1st place – 200 points, 2nd place – 185 points, 3rd place – 175 points. For the following places, 5 points at a time are deducted down to 150 points, then 3 points at a time down to 90 points, then 2 points at a time down to 50 points, and then one point is deducted for each place occupied.

Cultural – each club has 20 minutes to present 3 songs, a humorous sketch and a poem. Among the 3 songs the club's/group's anthem will also be presented, and the other 2 songs do not necessarily have to be original creations. The atmosphere created will be scored in particular.

Points awarded: 300 points.

THE OVERALL RANKING OF THE COMPETITION IS GIVEN BY THE SUM OF THE POINTS OBTAINED BY THE PARTICIPATING CLUBS/GROUPS IN THE THREE COMPETITION CATEGORIES!

Competition rules:

• Competitors will be accommodated in tents, under the guidance of the organisers.

• There will be a single fire pit; setting up additional fire pits is forbidden.

• Each club will receive a rubbish bag on arrival at the camp.

• Clubs/Groups are obliged to carry the rubbish they produce to the first designated collection point outside the camp.

• The group leader is responsible for informing the members of their group of the accident-prevention rules and the norms of mountain conduct, as well as of the competition rules.

• The organisers reserve the right to make changes to the schedule of the competition events.

Compulsory equipment:

- individual: footwear with a grippy sole, torch, whistle, rain cape;

- collective: compass, first-aid kit, water bottle;

PARTICIPATION IS AT YOUR OWN RISK

The CHESS competition will take place on 21 July 2012, starting at 17:00. Depending on the number of participants, the playing system will be chosen – GROUP format or a single group in the SWISS SYSTEM. We appeal to the seriousness of the participating clubs/groups to nominate for the competition only people who know the game of the mind well.

Registrations are made by name on 20 July 2012, on arrival at the camp!

Two competition categories are organised: women's and men's. Participants who do not make it within the 240-minute time limit to the checkpoint – Lacul Călcescu – will abandon the route at that point and return to the camp.

Depending on the time achieved up to the aforementioned checkpoint, they will be included in the overall ranking after the last competitor who completed the entire route, and will receive participation diplomas.
