From 11 to 13 July, the "Cocoșul de Munte" Mountain Tourism Association from Brașov invites you to the 3rd stage of the "Ștafeta Munților" (the Mountain Relay) National Sports Tourism Championship, a stage that will take place in Munții Leaota.
The Trofeul "Cocoșul de Munte" (the Capercaillie Trophy) is an "outdoor challenge" type sporting activity and is aimed at all tourism and ecology clubs and associations in the country, whether or not affiliated to the Ștafeta Munților National Sports Tourism Championship.
BASE CAMP: Raza Soarelui Tourist Complex, Str. Principală no. 213B, Fundățica village, Fundata commune. The tent camp is set up in the courtyard of the complex. A camping fee of 15 lei will be charged.

COMPETITION CATEGORIES:
1. JUNIORS - teams of 3 people take part, regardless of sex, aged between 14 and 20 (completed years);
2. OPEN – teams of 3 people take part, regardless of age and sex.
3. ELITE – teams of 3 people take part, regardless of age or sex.
4. FAMILY – teams of 3 people take part, at least one adult and, compulsorily, at least one child aged no more than 13;
5. WOMEN – teams of three girls take part, regardless of age.
6. SENIORS - teams of 3 people aged between 35 and 50 take part, regardless of sex.
7. VETERANS - teams of 3 people aged over 50 take part, regardless of sex.
* The age reached on the date of the competition is taken into account;
COMPETITION EVENTS:
MOUNTAIN RAID - involves covering a mountain route of medium difficulty, lasting a maximum of 8 hours, with the exception of the FAMILY category, where the route will have a lower level of difficulty and must be possible to cover in a maximum of 4 ½ hours.
THEORY TEST - the event involves a multiple-choice test of 15 questions with a single correct answer; the time allowed is 7 minutes. Each team member will answer five questions.
ORIENTEERING - covering a pre-set course by all the team members with the help of the map and compass.
CULTURAL EVENT - a cultural and artistic programme (music, poetry or humour) with a mountain theme will be presented on Saturday evening, at the campfire.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT:
● Individual: boots or mountain footwear with a good-grip sole, working torch, water container, whistle and rain cape/waterproof jacket.
● Collective (team): first-aid kit, rucksack, means of lighting a fire and compass.
Equipment is checked in situations where the organiser considers it necessary due to the weather conditions, the level of difficulty of the route, etc. In these cases the check is compulsorily carried out before the START point.
EVENT PROGRAMME
➢ Friday, 11 July:
16:00 - Arrival of the participants; validation of registrations;
22:00 - Technical briefing;
22:30 - Socialising and good cheer;
00:00 - Everyone goes to rest
➢ Saturday, 12 July:
08:00 - 18:00 – The "Ștafeta Munților" competition;
10:00 - 17:00 – Surprise fun events for those remaining in the camp;
20:00 - 21:00 – Cultural event and mountain songs around the campfire;
➢ Sunday, 13 July:
11:30 - 13:00 posting of the results and the prize-giving ceremony;
13:00 - official close of the competition, cleaning up the camp, departure of the participants.
PRIZES ARE AWARDED:
● By category: According to the ranking obtained by adding up the points scored by a team in the events in which it takes part.
● Overall ranking: By adding up the results of a club's teams in its best 4 competition categories.
