And because we know you have missed Trofeul Temerarii, we invite you to meet again at the 7th edition of Trofeul Temerarii (the Daredevils' Trophy), an ANNIVERSARY edition!
This Outdoor Challenge competition is open to all tourism and ecology clubs and associations in the country, whether or not they are affiliated to the Ștafeta Munților (Mountain Relay) National Championship, and to other people who are able to organise themselves into teams, taking part alongside the clubs and enjoying the same activities.
Competition date: 8–10 August 2025
Venue: Ceahlău Mountains, the area of the Izvorul Muntelui Chalet. GPS coordinates 46.9540 N – 25.9884 E
Access routes:
Whichever area you come from, you need to get to Bicaz, Neamț County. From the town of Bicaz, head towards the Bicaz Dam, and at the dam turn left and continue for another 9 km to the Izvorul Muntelui Chalet.
Competition categories:
Children: teams of 3 members up to 14 years of age, regardless of sex, with an accompanying adult
Juniors: teams of 3 members, aged 15–20, regardless of sex
Elite: teams of 3 members, regardless of age and sex
Open: teams of 3 members, regardless of age and sex
Women's: teams of 3 members, compulsorily female
Seniors: teams of 3 members, all aged over 35, regardless of sex
Veterans: teams of 3 members, all aged over 50, regardless of sex

Friday 8 August 2025:
10:00 – 22:00 Arrival of participants; validation of entries
22:00 Technical briefing with all team captains and anyone interested
23:30 Close of registration
24:00 Posting of the starting order / Lights out
Saturday 9 August 2025:
Start of the events
21:00 Posting of results and settling of appeals
22:00 Cultural Event
Sunday 10 August 2025:
10:30 – Prize-giving ceremony
12:00 – Cleaning up the camp and departure of participants
PRIZES ARE AWARDED:
By category: According to the ranking obtained by adding up the points scored by a team in the events in which it takes part.
Overall ranking: By adding up the results of a club's teams in its best 4 competition categories.
Competition events:
- MOUNTAIN RAID – a mountain route of medium difficulty, lasting a maximum of 8 hours with an elevation gain of 1,200 m. Teams of 3 members take part. You cannot enter this event without HIKING BOOTS/TRAINERS with a special grippy sole for trekking.
IMPORTANT: the children will have an age-appropriate route and will not reach the summit.
- ORIENTEERING – covering a pre-set course by all team members with the help of a map and compass. The whole team will take part in this event.
IMPORTANT: we will be using the electronic timing system patented by Ștafeta Munților, so please use the chips in the manner indicated and take the checkpoints in order so as not to be disqualified.
3. THEORETICAL TESTS – 15 multiple-choice questions about the competition area. All questions are of low difficulty and have ONE SINGLE CORRECT ANSWER. You will find the questions on the website www.stafetamuntilor.ro.
IMPORTANT: Each team member will answer 5 questions.
4. CULTURAL – Themes: sport, tourism, nature, ecology
- Duration: approx. 25 minutes
- Scoring: according to the Ștafeta Munților rules
- Content: music, poetry, humour
The theme of this event will be, as every year, old mountain songs, and not only.
5. MARATHON event
- This is an event organised exclusively by the Temerarii Alpine Club
- A distance of approximately 5 km will be covered for the elite, juniors, seniors, women's, open and veterans categories
- The team will nominate a single member to cover the running course, or all team members may take part, but the best time will be the one scored in the trophy ranking.
- The event counts towards the overall ranking of Trofeul Temerarii but NOT towards the overall ranking of Ștafeta Munților
6. SURPRISE EVENT – will be awarded separately, outside the competition
At the Technical Briefing the organisers will present each event and the rules in detail. The organisers reserve the right to change the order of the events if this is required for objective reasons.
There IS mobile phone signal in the camp area!
IMPORTANT:
For all compulsory events, the ȘTAFETA MUNȚILOR RULES, which you can find at www.stafetamuntilor.ro, will be strictly observed.
There will be a single fire pit in the camp. Mountain Gendarmerie patrols will be present in the area and will penalise any breach of the law. So please do not give them reasons to fine you!
The tent camp will be set up in the area of the Izvorul Muntelui Chalet.
Park fee 10 lei/person
Compulsory equipment:
- individual: hiking boots/trekking trainers, rain cape, whistle, torch, source of fire
- team: compass, water bottle, first-aid kit and, very important: a camera or a phone with a camera.
Equipment is checked in situations where the organiser considers it necessary because of the weather conditions, the level of difficulty of the route, etc. In these cases, the check is carried out both before the START point and on the route or at manned checkpoints.

The group leader is responsible for making known the rules inside the camp as well as those laid down by Ștafeta Munților.*
Minors take part in activities and competitions only with the consent of their parents or legal guardian.
