World Environment Day, or Ecology Day, celebrated annually on 5 June, is an occasion for joint events designed to draw attention to the need to protect the environment.
On this occasion, the Drumeții Montane Association set up in the centre of the city of Târgu Jiu a mini photo exhibition with panoramas of the Parâng Mountains. The aim of this photo exhibition was to promote and popularise sports tourism as an eco-friendly way of spending free time, as well as to educate society in a green spirit – through involvement in environmentally protective activities.
The exhibition was organised with the support of Gorj County Council and Târgu Jiu City Hall.
At the same time, passers-by received flyers with instructions on how to register for the "Parângul Mare" Mountain Sports Festival, and those who stopped to admire the panoramas displayed in the pavilion tent delighted their eyes with the landscapes that the Parâng Mountains hide.

Participation in the festival is free; activities such as hiking, tourist orienteering, climbing, a folk marathon, plays and poetry will be organised, with the activities organised according to each person's age and experience.
